Top Luxury Hotels in Marrakech for 2026

La Sultana Marrakech, spa

I first travelled to Marrakech from London in 2006 for a girl’s shopping and cultural break. We stayed in a riad, a traditional Moroccan house with a courtyard at its centre, and explored a city that left a lasting impression. Now, some twenty years later, I live in a traditional Moroccan riad and have been a resident here since 2018.  I’ve written an abundance of articles for publications such as The Telegraph and Time Out, as well as guidebooks for DK Eyewitness and Lonely Planet, and I post regularly about travel to Morocco on this blog.

I recently wrote this post about the Top Luxury Hotels in Morocco, and realised that I could easily have dedicated a whole post to Marrakech’s luxury hotels. So here it is.

Marrakechis, Marrakech locals, are warm and natural hosts; their generous hospitality is a large part of what makes a stay here so special.

This blog focuses on the top luxury hotels in Marrakech. Hotels that were once palaces, or were designed to be palaces. Resorts with spacious grounds and extensive facilities. There are separate blogs that cover the Best Riads Under £250 in the Medina, and Best Luxury Riads in Marrakech.

Here’s my pick of the best luxury hotels in Marrakech:

Royal Mansour Marrakech

The Royal Mansour hotel brand is owned by Morocco's King Mohammed VI. They define hotel excellence and is consistently voted among the top hotels in the world. It also has one of the best locations for a luxury hotel in Marrakech, centrally located between the Medina and Hivernage district. If you ever wanted to experience being royalty, Royal Mansour offers it. Discreet and professional staff are always on hand to anticipate and meet your needs. The hotel is designed with privacy in mind, and the rooms are individual riads with private pools: fifty-three riads with 1 to 4 bedrooms, topped with retractable glass roofs. The design and architectural details are exquisite; it’s hard to take in the abundance and intricacy of the traditional Moroccan artistry throughout. Excellent in-house dining and a wellness spa that spans 2500 sqm with 13 treatment rooms. I dream of the hair treatment I had here!

The Oberoi Marrakech

The Oberoi Marrakech appeals to travellers looking for space and spoiling. The hotel is a little outside the city, so if you are planning a lot of sightseeing, it may not be the best choice. But if you really love The Oberoi brand, you’ll make it work; it is only a 20-30-minute drive to the city centre. Being a bit out of the city means plenty of space for gardens and fruit orchards, plus impressive views of the Atlas Mountains. Thanks to the hotel owner’s Indian heritage, fine dining options include Rivayat, which serves Indian cuisine in a palatial setting, with a menu created by Michelin-starred chef Rohit Ghai. Other restaurants offer Mediterranean and Moroccan menus. The Oberoi Marrakech is one of the top luxury hotels for space in its grounds and in its rooms. Their lead-in rooms are 70 sqm. Other room categories include individual villas or suites with private gardens and pools. Active and culturally interested travellers will enjoy their Experiences menu, which includes sunrise yoga, cookery courses and private BBQ set-ups. The spa also offers wellness journeys based on ancient Indian remedies, Moroccan rituals, and other therapies in spa suites overlooking a lake.

La Sultana Marrakech

Centrally located in the Kasbah district, just across from the Medina, it’s a few minutes' walk to the Bahia Palace and Royal Palace. It is my top pick for a small luxury hotel in Marrakech, housed in a stunning historic building lovingly renovated into one of the best hotels in Marrakech. Traditional artisans restored the woodwork, hand-painted ceilings, zellige (mosaic) tiles, and hand-carved plasterwork. The hotel has 28 rooms and suites, each entirely unique. You’ll be welcomed like family. It’s one of the best small luxury hotels in Marrakech for spa pampering. Its underground spa is like a Roman bathhouse, with marble columns and lantern-lit walls. A 2000 sqm rooftop has two restaurants, a terrace exclusively for cookery classes and views onto the neighbouring Saadian Tombs, one of the city’s finest historic sights.

Nobu Marrakech

Nobu is an urban oasis in a prime location, close to the Medina, Gueliz and Hivernage. The hotel's style blends Japanese minimalism with Moroccan traditional artistry, where a bonsai tree meets zellige tiles; surprisingly, it works! Seventy-one rooms and suites. The hotel's standout feature is its rooftop garden with a circular pool deck, incredible views, plus the eponymous Nobu restaurant and a spa spanning 185 sqm. The hotel has two pools: a circular one and a long pool (24 metres) in the garden.

Amanjena Marrakech

I remember arriving at Amanjena and feeling very small, because everything there is on a huge scale: the gardens, the rooms, the temple-like ceilings, the pools. But you’ll adjust, and you'll appreciate that space, especially the airflow on hotter days. It’s around a fifteen-minute drive to the city centre, close to some of Marrakech’s golf courses. It’s one of the best luxury hotels in Marrakech if you’re looking for a peaceful paradise, the translation of Amanjena. I love the soft rose clay walls, designed to bring a little of the Marrakech Medina home. Accommodation is in forty pavilions and lodges overlooking the hotel’s lake. Unlike some traditional palace hotels, Amanjena's design is minimalist, with polished marble, natural wood, and mosaic tiles. The rooms have private pools and outdoor pavilions with private gardens. Personalised experiences include private dining, yoga in the garden shala, tennis academy coaching, and spa hammam journeys.

Selman Marrakech

This was one of the most surprising hotels for me: a unique luxury hotel in Marrakech, that is rich in Arabic culture. This family-owned hotel is a countryside palace; its defining feature is the

on-site Arabian stud farm, home to the owner’s private collection of Arabian thoroughbred horses. Their horses are exquisite and add something special to the hotel experience. Guests can connect with the horses through equestrian experiences, including equine therapy. It is one of Marrakech's smaller luxury hotels. The hotel offers 55 elegant rooms and suites, or five private villas. It has the facilities and services of a luxury resort, but the intimacy of a boutique hotel. There are three on-site restaurants, including Le Pavilion, where you’ll find one of the city’s most popular Sunday brunches, and three bars. The Chenot Spa offers curated healing journeys, seven treatment rooms, four hydrotherapy rooms and heated pools.

La Mamounia

One of the first luxury hotels in Marrakech, it celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2023. Similar to the Royal Mansour Marrakech, it benefits from having space, especially in its gardens, as well as a central location. The hotel sits across from the Medina and close to Gueliz and the Hivernage district. La Mamounia is the grande dame of Marrakech, beloved by royalty and VIPs; Sir Winston Churchill has a bar named after him. The hotel exudes elegance and refined tradition; even if you don’t stay, consider a visit for brunch or High Tea in their Tea Rooms. The 135 rooms are classic Moroccan style, with soft furnishings in velvet, leather, marble and silk. Plus several themed suites, check out the Koutoubia Suite for views of the Koutoubia Minaret. The sprawling gardens are filled with giant date palms, roses and olive groves. The equally spacious spa (over 2500 sqm) is temple-like, with columned pillars, heated pools, hot tubs, and hammams. Around 800 employees in traditional dress are on hand to accommodate your every need.

Mandarin Oriental Marrakech

A stand-out luxury hotel in Marrakech for minimalist design. Tradition and modernity blend perfectly. Fifty-four one- to four-bedroom villas have private pools and gardens, making it ideal for families. A simple white and dark wood colour palette. White walls, cream rugs with Amazigh symbols, tall glass windows, and dark wood lattice frames add that oriental feel. It’s a little bit of a drive outside the city, fifteen minutes southeast of the Medina, but very close (5-minute drive) to the MACAAL (Museum of Contemporary African Art). Gardens are spread over 20 hectares; there’s a huge outdoor pool and a jogging route around the resort. The Asian-inspired spa features a temple-like hammam, a Thai treatment room, an indoor pool, and outdoor spa suites. The cuisine also reflects the brand’s Asian roots; Ling Ling by Hakkasan offers a Cantonese menu and delicious cocktails. Shirvan’s hybrid menu infuses traditional Moroccan recipes with Asian spices.
