Specialty cafés in Marrakech 2025

Introduction to Marrakech’s coffee scene

People often associate Moroccans with drinking sweet mint tea, which is still widely served and a significant part of the culture.

Lately, however, there’s been a surge in specialty coffee shops in modern cities, like Marrakech, serving high-quality, locally roasted coffee in cafés with dreamy, aesthetic interiors.

That’s right, independent cafés run by coffee-loving baristas who know their stuff.

This rise in unique cafés in Marrakech is especially popular among coffee-loving travellers, young Moroccans, and digital nomads. People are looking for stylish concept cafés, community hubs, vegan-friendly cafés, and spaces suited to remote work.

Cozy cafés that focus on serving great coffee? Yes, please. When you find a thoughtfully curated artisanal coffee menu that includes everything from cold brew to matcha latte and plant-based milk options.

Cafés at the forefront of the emerging Marrakech coffee scene lean towards minimalist design. Like two new cafés in Marrakech 2025; Hyuna House Café Marrakech and HeiBei Café Marrakech. Their respective owners share a love of minimalist interiors, drawing inspiration from café design from Korea and Japan.

Looking for the best coffee shops in Marrakech?

I hope this article will serve as a helpful guide to finding some of the city’s hidden gems. Whether you’re looking for the best artisanal coffee in the Medina or a cozy café with pour-over coffee and freshly-baked pastries in Gueliz, we've got you covered.

Read on for my round-up of the best cafés in Marrakech, divided into two locations: the Medina and Gueliz.

Medina coffee spots

Hyuna House Café

24 Rte Sidi Abdelaziz, Medina, Marrakech

“A piece of Korea in the heart of Marrakech”

Minimalist and cute exterior of Hyuna House Café in Marrakech

This quirky Korean-inspired coffee house is in the centre of the medina, it could be in Seoul. Opened towards the end of 2024, it's already popular with local hipsters and tourists seeking specialty coffee, Oatly milk, matcha lattes, and iced coffees. The cute space is ultra-sparse in decor, making for a calming contrast with the colourful streets outside. There’s also a small rooftop.

I visited midday and enjoyed the serene space and efficient air-conditioning. Friendly staff, a simple coffee-centric menu is hand-written and stuck on the wall with washi tape. The iced coffee was super easy to drink, and I loved the delicious matcha and white chocolate chip cookies, which are densely packed with chocolate. Also heard great things about the carrot cake, but it was sold out. It’s a lovely, unique café, ideal for sharing a great coffee with friends or taking a moment to chill after being in the chaos of the Medina.

Open daily

Bacha Coffee House

Route Sidi Abdelaziz, Marrakech Medina

“Coffee Masters”

Founded in 1910, Bacha is a coffee institution and nowadays, a star attraction in Marrakech. The most well-known Medina coffee spot. The long queues, sometimes up to two hours, make it more suited for an occasion when you have time to wait, and to appreciate the ambience and elegance of the café. Coffee aficionados will enjoy perusing their lengthy menu of coffees, 100% Arabica, sourced from all over the world. It’s located within the Dar Bacha Museum, a former palace, packed with charm and Islamic architecture. The café atrium is art-deco-themed, with a black and white tiled floor, a glass roof, and colonial era details.

Closed on Mondays

Gueliz coffee shops

Thirty5ive

3 Rue el Imam Malik, Gueliz

“Specialty coffee, art, and more.”

Minimalist interior and exterior Thirty5ive coffee shop Marrakech

I popped into this neighbourhood café en route to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum and Jardin Majorelle. I later discovered it was a great idea; the cafés around the museums were packed! It’s a 15-minute walk from Thirty5ive to the museums, making it one of the best local coffee spots near Jardin Majorelle.

I loved the minimalist and industrial design, polished concrete, and the local feel. I enjoyed a smooth cappuccino and looked at the amazing selection of artisanal pastries; I’d just had lunch. Friendly staff. Their vision is to be a space to connect like-minded creative souls. Decks are available for visitors to play a record of their choice. I didn’t see any laptop workers; people were chatting, reading, and sketching. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Open daily

HeiBai Coffee

Opposite Ibrahim al Khalil Mosque, Route de Safi, Gueliz

“Specialty Coffee, Artisan Tea, & More.”

I have yet to visit this one, but I am excited to do so on my next visit to Marrakech. I’ve included it in this round-up as a friend who owns Hey Yallah, a local favourite café in our neighbourhood, says, “They serve the best coffee in Marrakech, the owner, Chihab, really knows his stuff for brewing knowledge.”

Opened in early 2025, HeiBai Coffee Marrakech is already drawing a loyal crowd of locals, coffee-loving tourists, and digital nomads. The simplicity of the Japanese style inspires the cafés minimalist design; floor-to-ceiling glass windows and a soft beige colour palette create a calming, light-filled space. Indoor and outdoor seating on their spacious terrace.

The latest reviews rave about their specialty coffee, friendly service, and exceptional attention to detail. It's a nice place to read a book, do some laptop work, chat with the welcoming host, or enjoy their homemade pistachio matcha.

Closed on Mondays

Kartel Kollectiv

14 Rue Halab, Gueliz (behind Carré Eden shopping centre)

“Specialty café and mood space.”

I have yet to visit this one, again, including it as it was another top recommendation by Chris from Hey Yallah, and is getting rave reviews as “one of the best places in Marrakech for great coffee, with various brewing methods.” A popular one for digital nomads as they offer wifi and charging points for laptops. Indoor and outdoor seating. On the list to visit soon!

Closed on Sundays

Blue Ribbon Café Marrakech

Magasin #12, 96 Rue Mohammed el Beqal, Gueliz

“Bakery, Coffee Shop, Brunch, and Lunch”

Pretty garden courtyard Blue Ribbon Café Marrakech

A sweet garden oasis with friendly, not fussy, staff. The menu reads like it’s been created with health and nature in mind, and you feel good just reading it. Drink options include seasonal fresh juices, protein shakes, and hot drinks, including specialty coffee, iced coffees, teas, and matcha. Food-wise, pastries, toasted bagels, sandwiches, and salads are available. Most of the organic produce comes from their permaculture farm. Highlights on the menu include sesame toasted bagel with Atlas trout, dill cream cheese, and salad. Another popular choice is their version of French toast with maple syrup. It’s part of the same precinct as Farmers, Restaurant Dining, Booklore, a bookstore with international cookery, Travel, Ecology, and a Kids/Young Adult section. There’s also a delicatessen shop that sells produce from their farm, Farm Slimane, including chutneys, jam, honey, marmalade, and Beldi eggs.

Terra Mia Café Marrakech

Rue Sourya, Gueliz, Marrakech

“Patisserie, Salon du Thé, Restaurant”

Interior and exterior Terra Mia Café Marrakech

I chose to stop here on a recent visit as I had fallen in love with their exquisite patisserie creations on Instagram! Whilst they serve great coffee, the real draw is their delicately-made cakes, impressive sweets, and fresh pastries. A full brunch and lunch menu is also offered. Tables inside and outside. Attentive staff.

L’Amandine

6 Rue de la Liberté, Gueliz

“Fine French and Moroccan pastry since 1997”

Street view of Amandine Patisserie Café Gueliz Marrakech

A charming bakery and patisserie tucked away on a quiet leafy side street in Gueliz. There’s only a handful of tables out front. Otherwise, it’s take away. Buttery croissants and melt-in-your-mouth macaroons in a multitude of flavours. A great place to stop for a coffee and something sweet, away from the crowds. On my last visit to Marrakech, I popped in to pick up some of the latest macaroon creations. The decadent salted caramel butter was fresh from the fridge, sweet and refreshing, the taste of refined luxury.

The Bloom Room Flower Shop + Café

104 Boulevard Mansour Eddahbi, Gueliz

“Flowers, Events, Café and Decor”

I am yet to visit here, but it appeals as a nice coffee shop in Gueliz to appreciate beautiful flowers and a pretty, light-filled café space. Extensive coffee menu, including iced coffees, plant-based milks, matcha, kombucha, and juices. Home-made cakes. There’s a space for kids to draw, too.

Closed on Sunday
