Co-working day at Windy Bay

Today I dusted the sand off my feet, dressed for the office, and headed into Taghazout to check out Windy Bay's Co-Working Space. You can read on for the full review and details below.

With year-round sunshine, Winter waves, chilled vibes, and a low cost of living, the south coast of Morocco offers the perfect place to practice living out your best work: a balanced life.

Is it possible to be a professional, digital nomad in a dusty, laid-back surf holiday resorts such as Taghazout? We say, yesssssss!

Why the need for co-working space?

As in, why not just work from home, or a cafe on wifi. Having lived in Morocco for several years, we have tried most cafe working spaces, observed the dust that coats our laptop screen, shared tables in busy cafes, and been easily distracted by friends passing through. We have also logged on at home, bored ourselves silly, or found plentiful distractions - washing, cleaning, chilling etc. We recognise that sometimes there is a need for a more focused environment for a solid day's work. Et voila, the Windy Bay Co-Working space.

What does a co-working space offer;

  • The change of scenery can help to generate new ideas

  • Work on your laptop or notebook in a professional environment

  • Space to focus, especially with the many distractions of a surf town in season

  • Meet a community of like-minded people. The energy of other people also in work mode helps! Co-workers and collaborators have conversations, bounce ideas, brainstorm, etc.

  • Stay motivated, the accountability to get up early and log in for a day’s work - this can be hard when many around you are on holiday!

What’s it like at Windy Bay?

Super inspiring, stylish and creative with lots of quirky details. An ample space - 120m2 - split over two floors. The first floor has a lovely cactus-filled terrace with a few tables. Inside are more tables, and a cosy snug area for those who like to sit on poofs, or rugs. Upstairs is an open-plan office space with air conditioning, large glass windows (curtains can be drawn to limit sunlight if too bright), a kitchenette, and the private meeting room. The upstairs room has air conditioning, and a selection of single desks, shared tables and floating desks mounted on the wall. The kitchenette offers tea, coffee making facilities and a small fridge. Both floors have a fantastic ocean view!

What enjoyed at Windy Bay Co-Working;

  • Professional and friendly can-do staff who are on hand to welcome and assist you.

  • Ordering delicious cappuccinos and juices from the popular cafe/ restaurant on the ground floor.

  • A safe environment to leave belongings, pop out, take a break and leave your desk unattended when you head to the cafe, or for a lunchtime surf.

  • Super clean and filled with light, with the option to draw the curtains to limit the distractions and glare from the sunshine.

  • Air con and soundproof windows, enjoyed the freshness and quiet even on a Summer’s day.

  • If you’re working outside, the epic waves soundtrack!

  • Plants and quirky interiors, the sense of creativity that comes from being around upcycled decor and intricate details.
