Security, from the inside

The loss of a parent shakes the foundations. The loss of both parents sends you reeling.

Turning the world upside down, completely changing the way you are in and view the world.

I am ever an optimist and have been gifted the time and tools to observe how the loss of both parents has brought more life, more colour and depth to my life. How it has bumped me along my quest for a fulfilling, loving and peaceful life.

One area in particular that it has helped with is security.

For many years I struggled with insecurity, stemming from that feeling of being alone in the world without a mother, that feeling of being constantly in survival mode.

Through this I have learned, and felt, that security comes from within.

If I forget it, I say to myself, I am safe.

It is important to remind yourself that you have the awareness, the connection to your self and your senses, to know intuitively when you are comfortable or uncomfortable in a situation. To allow yourself to say no without questioning your instinct, your self, and without having to explain why, without judgement.

When you rely on security from external sources you are giving away one of your basic human instincts; survival.

Trust that you have everything you need, your body knows what it needs. You just have to listen, express it and take action when required. Other powerful affirmations to try when you are feeling insecure are listed here;

I am safe

I am love

I am security

I am connected

Try them. I hope they help you as much as they have helped me over recent months.
